Warminster Area Board funds community projects

Warminster Area Board has agreed to fund a number of community projects. A lively meeting took place at Warminster Civic Centre on Thursday 2nd November. Funding included £5000 towards the new skate park which is planned to replace the old one which is no longer up to standard. Plans are afoot for a state of the art concrete skate park similar to the one in Bath and recently built in Corsham. Young people attended the Area Board to give a presentation which was warmly received by all present. Fundraising is continuing for this project which will cost over a hundred thousand pounds.
Chitterne Parish Council also received funding for a Speed Indicator Device to add to their attempts at curbing speeding through their village.
Warminster Cricket Club also received £2000 towards improving facilities for their young players and including their table tennis club.
The Health and Wellbeing sub group of the Area Board has also put aside £250 for the “All Things Carers Event” which will take place on Thursday 23rd November from 10am until 1pm at Warminster Civic Centre. Speakers and stalls will be available for carers and people who are interested in mental health issues – all welcome.
All in all, it was a vibrant and well attended meeting – next meeting 4 January 2018.
