Wiltshire Council is working with local communities to develop exciting proposals for innovative community campuses across the county. Campuses will help deliver services which are value for money, tailored to local needs and influenced by local people and partners. This will ensure customers and their needs are at the heart of future plans.
First phase of Warminster campus consultation has ended
The Warminster Shadow COB have recently led a consultation to find out what local people want and need in their community campus and this consulation closed on Friday 16 May.
The idea of a campus is to bring a number of services and facilities together to provide fit for purpose, flexible spaces, accessible to everyone in our community. A campus will also reduce the pressures and risks to Wiltshire Council (and possibly other public sector bodies) of operating ageing, low quality buildings.
The shadow COB will now process and analyse the results of the consultation and a summary of the results will be available soon.
In the meantime, iIf you have any questions about the Warminster campus project please email CampusConsultation@wiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 01225 718350.
March 2014 update – campus consultation starting soon
During 2013 Warminster Area Board formed the Warminster Shadow Community Operations Board, the group that will work to develop proposals for a Community Campus for the local area.
The Shadow COB are now starting to consult with local people to find out what they want and need in their community campus.
Local people will be encouraged to have their say through the online consultation form which will be available here shortly.
Paper copies of the consultation forms will also be available across the community area from week commencing 10th March and forms will need to be returned by mid-May 2014.
Attendees at the Warminster Area Board meeting on Thursday 6th March were invited to provide their feedback through an early version of the consultation form.
Members of the Shadow COB will also be contacting local groups and organisations to ask them to take part in the consultation and to publicise the consultation to their members.
If your group would like to be involved in the consultation please get in touch by emailing CampusConsultation@wiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 01225 718350
The Shadow COB will then use the feedback from the consultation to develop a specification and proposal for the Warminster community campus.
More information will be available here soon – why not register for updates on this site and you’ll receive news updates about community events as well as information about the campus consultation.
More informaiton – What is a campus?
These campuses could be new buildings or greatly-improved and developed existing buildings. In other cases the proposal is to look at community-run leisure facilities which could be expanded to accommodate additional services or facilities.
The aim is to make maximum and efficient use of the council’s buildings – both new and existing – and create campuses that deliver more for local communities. The design and service offer of each campus directly reflects the needs of the area it serves; each campus will, therefore, take different forms and will be driven by different factors resulting in tailor made points of delivery across the county.
